Round-table discussion as part of the temporary exhibition "Forgotten Victims", to be held from 13.3 to 23.12.2024 at the Museum in Esch-sur-Alzette.

In 1941, homosexuality is criminalised for the first time in Luxembourg with §175. Numerous homosexual men were arrested, sentenced to harsh prison terms and deported to concentration camps. After the war, the men concerned usually concealed the reason for their arrest. Homosexuality remained a taboo. It is only in recent years that historians and researchers have begun to look into the fate of these forgotten victims. The round table discussion "Research and commemorative work on the persecution of homosexuals" aims to shed light on both the current state of research and its transnational character using Luxembourg as an example.

What influence do the current findings have on the commemorative work carried out primarily by interest groups, such as the Queer Archive?

The event will be held in German with simultaneous translation into French.
