Discover Esch's cultural and tourist attractions
In addition to the museum, Esch has a wide variety of cultural and tourist attractions. Here is a selection of what else you can do in Esch.

Just a footstep away
THEATER, DANCE, PERFORMANCES & WORKSHOPS
Escher Theater & Ariston
Each season, the theatre presents around forty shows in theatre, dance and music - or at the crossroads of these disciplines - with productions from both the European and Luxembourg scenes.
A second auditorium in the former Ariston cinema, just a stone's throw from the Theatre, provides a more solid foundation for the artistic project and promotes diversity in the programming.
Since 2018, plays aimed at young audiences have been one of the mainstays of its project, as have plays that use humour to question reality.

Conservatoire de Musique Esch
After the State made the former ARBED casino available to the town, the Conservatoire de Musique de la Ville d'Esch-sur-Alzette moved into the building on 24 September 1993. Now that it finally had a venue worthy of its status, the Conservatoire was able to consolidate its regional influence and expand its range of courses.
The Conservatoire's large auditorium, suitable for chamber music, is equipped with a large organ and benefits from excellent acoustics.

Parc Gaalgebierg
A refreshing corner of nature not far from the town centre
Just a few minutes' walk from the Passerelle, the municipal park is a place to relax for young and old, a place to rediscover the serenity of unspoiled nature just a stone's throw from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's a collection of flower gardens, formal gardens, woodland paths and secluded lanes.
The municipal park offers plenty of opportunities for leisure and relaxation: ideal for walks or jogging, it also has petanque tracks, a football pitch, a tennis court and a basketball court.
The Gaalgebierg is not only the municipal park, but also a hill with a vast forest offering many walks, a campsite, a wildlife park, a football stadium, a natural ice rink, etc. It also hosts many festivities every year, such as the Luxembourg Beach Open and the Bairrada festival.

Natural and cultural heritage
This is where the riches of southern Luxembourg meet: on the one hand, a rich and abundant natural heritage, and on the other, the legacy of the old mines. In the past, it was the Cockerill mine that was at the heart of activity here, and which played such a major role in the economic development of the whole region.
Now transformed into a visitor centre, the site offers permanent and temporary exhibitions on this unusual heritage. The museum of the same name and the Ellergronn nature and forest centre were created when the Cockerill mine closed. There's much to discover here.
The nature reserve is also part of the Natura 2000 area ‘Former Ellergronn mines’, which is part of a European network of reserves designed to safeguard valuable habitats and the diversity of their species.
The visitor centre is also the starting point for educational trails through the surrounding protected areas.

Esch-Belval, former steelworks site
The Belval brownfield site is a former industrial site of Arbed, a Luxembourg steel group founded in 1911. When blast furnace B, the last blast furnace still in production in Luxembourg, was shut down, an area of 120 hectares was freed up to the west for new functions, while the other part of the site remained a production site for ArcelorMittal.
The site is well served by road and rail along its southern boundary.
The University of Luxembourg, of interest to architecture enthusiasts, is also located on the Belval site.
